Past students presenting their portfolios

This week, Simon Warren invited two students, Hanzla Asghar and Jake Wright, who graduated last year from his studio, Cityzen Agency, to present their portfolios to us. This was great to see, if not a little daunting for all of us MArch2 students, as I think we all left feeling a little anxious about the amount of work that we have left to produce in a fairly short period of time!

As well as being great to see the bodies of work that they had each curated for the final submission, it was really useful to get to ask them some questions and get their advice on how best to approach the next couple of months. I was particularly keen to learn from their experience on how they presented their projects in terms of what they put on their final boards and what aspects of the project they prioritised talking about in the short presentation time, to the tutors and to the external examiners. Simon's input here from the tutor's side was also reassuring, as he pointed out that really we are marked on what we hand in, and the tutors will have already gone over the portfolio carefully, so the presentation is just an opportunity to highlight key parts of it, and to clarify anything that the tutors are unsure of.

A summary of Hanzla's project can be found on the RIBA President's Medals website.
